Peter King, 3X National Sportswriter of the Year
“Our job as journalists is to get the story, to tell the truth, and to make sure we have it right.”
- Peter King
This week we are honored to welcome Peter King. If you think NFL media, he is the gold standard. Peter wrote for Sports Illustrated for 30 years. He is a man of integrity and accountability.
We touch in a number of topics with him, from his beginnings to his retirement.
What was the noble reason he got into covering football? Why was covering the Bengals in 1984 a joy and a learning experience? In 1985, he went to Newsday to cover the Bill Parcells led Giants. What was Bill Belichick like as an Assistant there? Did Peter have a roll in Belichick going to Cleveland?
The “Monday Morning Quarterback” became a member of the Board of Selectors for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. We discuss what a responsibility that is and get his thoughts on some potential candidates.
Peter gives his opinion on if Drake Maye should be playing. He tells us his favorite Patriot to cover. And talks about his only regret as a writer (and it had to do with covering the Pats).
This and a lot more with the the man who won National Sportswriter of the Year 3 times!
